New York Red Bulls v Arsenal - Sold out!

Red Bulls v Arsenal
Arsenal will take on New York Red Bulls on July 26

Arsenal’s pre-season friendly in the United States against the New York Red Bulls this summer is a complete sell-out.

Arsène Wenger’s side will take on the MLS club at the 25,000 capacity Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on Saturday, July 26 (kick-off 5pm local time) in a game which will see the Gunners come up against Thierry Henry, who now captains the New York Red Bulls.

The sides will play for the ‘New York Cup 2014’, with the match being a straight 90-minute contest. Arsenal will wear the new PUMA away kit (launched on July 10) for the match and it will be team’s only match outside Europe this summer.

The match will be Arsenal’s second encounter with the New York Red Bulls in three years, following a 1-1 draw at the 2011 Emirates Cup. The first team last visited the United States for an exhibition match with Independiente of Argentina in Miami, Florida in 1989.

Among the sell-out crowd will be 5,000 Arsenal supporters who have filled the club’s official allocation of tickets for the match. The Arsenal allocation will be made up from approximately 500 supporters travelling from the UK, with the remainder coming from official supporters’ clubs in the USA.

The Arsenal squad for the trip to the United States will arrive in New York on Wednesday, July 23. During their stay, the players will take part in a number of fan activities, before returning to the UK immediately after the match on July 26.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: “We enjoy fantastic support in the United States and this has been illustrated by the match selling out extremely quickly. We are all looking forward to the match against the New York Red Bulls and are delighted to be able to provide our fans with an opportunity to watch the team play live in New York in the summer.”
