GayGooners join Pride in London parade

Arsenal’s LGBT supporters' group, GayGooners, is participating in this year’s Pride in London parade on Saturday for the second consecutive year.

The group, which is made up of more than 100 members, will come together to join more than 20,000 people from the LGBT community to celebrate their achievements and to campaign about the issues that are most important to them.

Following successful participation in last year’s event, the GayGooners are back for a second year with a bigger group and more members taking part in the parade. Working closely with the club, membership of the GayGooners has increased by nearly 100 per cent since last year’s London event, following a number of activities to engage Arsenal’s LGBT community.

Stewart Selby, coordinator of the GayGooners, said: “We are delighted to once again take part in Pride in London. Our group goes from strength to strength and participating in the parade is a big statement of intent that homophobia has no place in football. We hope we attract even more members to the group who, like us, love Arsenal.”

The group is testament to the club's ongoing commitment to the Arsenal for Everyone campaign, which aims to ensure that everyone associated with Arsenal feels an equal sense of belonging, regardless of age, race, colour, ethnic or national origin, nationality, sex or gender, sexual orientation, disability or religion.
