Ladies Reserves win Development Cup

Arsenal Ladies Reserves beat Liverpool Reserves to win FAWSL Development Cup on Saturday.

It took a 90th-minute goal to separate the Southern Division champions from their Northern Division opponents at Sutton Coldfield Town FC.

The first 45 minutes failed to serve up any clear goalscoring chances but Beth Donoghue went close for Liverpool, while Bianca Bragg and Carla Humphrey had goes at goal for the Gunners.

Evie Clarke, Humphrey and Megan Ryan all unsuccessfully threatened to break the deadlock for Arsenal before Liverpool responded with Ashley Hodson being denied by keeper Chloe Morgan and then the post.

Humphrey also hit the woodwork and Ellie Stewart saw her header cleared off the Gunners' goal-line before Clarke headed home a late winner.

Arsenal Res: Morgan, Robe, Cowley, Sampson, Ryan, Steele, Humphrey, Oliver, Stokjo-Down, Bragg, Clarke. Subs: Fatuga, Coles, Mills, Harbour-Brown, Hassall.

Liverpool Res: Jackson, Stewart, Riccio, Revitt, Wild, Alexander, Rumsey, Vella, Walker, Hodson, Donoghue. Subs: Fish, Dale, Beckwith, Kennerley, Swarbrick.
