Per - We must maintain our intensity

Per Mertesacker insists Arsenal must maintain their intensity as they prepare for the FA Cup final.

The Gunners bring their league campaign to a close with a trip to Norwich City on Sunday before turning their attention to the Wembley showdown with Hull City on May 17.

The German defender admits the whole squad are excited about the game but has urged them to continue to build momentum with a victory at Carrow Road.

"Everyone is looking forward to the last game and even more to the FA Cup final"

"I think everyone is really up for the cup final and everyone really wants to win it," Mertesacker told Arsenal Player. "That is the target and we've got one game to go and we want to take it very seriously.

"When you switch off, it's hard to switch on again so we want to keep the focus and intensity high in training. But as you know everyone is looking forward to the last game and even more to the FA Cup final."

Arsenal brought their home campaign to a close with a 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion and Mertesacker was satisfied with the team's display.

"It could have been worse. We managed it quite well," he said. "Obviously [Everton's result on Saturday meant] it was sure that we would finish in fourth but I think at the start we tried to take possession and give our best.

"You could see that we created a few chances and deserved to be 1-0 up. In the second half we had quite a few chances to score the second but we didn't do it so it's obvious that it was going to be tough until the end.

"They had quite a few chances but there was always a foot in-between and we managed to deal with a difficult situation. We are happy with the clean sheet again after that Newcastle match and overall it was fine season from our side."
