Steph Houghton says Arsenal Ladies will not rest on their laurels when they travel to Sardinia to take on ASD Torres in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final next Wednesday.
Goals from Kelly Smith, Jordan Nobbs and Kim Little gave the Ladies a three-goal advantage in the first leg at Meadow Park before Sandy Maendly pulled a goal back 20 minutes from time to ensure a tricky-looking trip to Italy next week.
"The final is at Stamford Bridge this year and we'd love to be a part of that. I think there's an extra incentive"
“I think we're in control,” Houghton told Arsenal Player. “We're happy with a 3-1 scoreline. We just have to make sure that we go over to Italy and make sure that we perform as well as we have done today. I'm sure the manager will look at what we did well, but also look at what we can improve on next week.
“It was a tough team to play against. It was very physical and the pitch was heavy on your legs.
“You want to be playing in the Champions League. We've reached the semi-finals in the last two seasons and it's not nice when you get knocked out and are so close to being in the final.
“The final is at Stamford Bridge this year and we'd love to be a part of that. I think there's an extra incentive but we have to take one step at a time starting with next week.”
