Nelson’s hot streak continues for Hoffenheim

Reiss Nelson

Three of our players were in action for their loan clubs at the weekend. Read on to find out who was involved and how they fared.

Reiss Nelson became the third-youngest ever player to reach five Bundesliga goals as he scored the opener for Hoffenheim in their 4-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

Nelson received the ball directly from a corner, stormed into the box and delivered a curling right-footed effort into the top corner.

The hosts then equalised on the half-hour mark through Karim Bellarabi, before Hoffenheim’s Vincenzo Grifo converted from the spot and Joelinton picked up a brace. Nelson was replaced in the 64th minute.

Krystian Bielik played the entirety of Charlton's 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

Joe Aribo broke the deadlock in the 18th minute with a simple finish from close range, before Karlan Grant’s header doubled Charlton’s advantage before the break.

Matt Macey played 90 minutes of Plymouth Argyle’s 2-0 loss to Sunderland on Saturday.

Aiden McGeady scored both goals in the second half, with the first being a powerful strike from distance in the 53rd minute. The 32-year-old then rounded off the scoring from the spot.

Elsewhere, David Ospina and Kelechi Nwakali were unused substitutes for Napoli and Porto respectively.
