Nelson on winning... and scoring his first PL goal

It was a landmark evening for Reiss Nelson on Wednesday as he scored his first Premier League goal in our victory against Liverpool.

Our teenage forward faced one of the biggest tests of his career so far, and was pleased to come away with the three points.

"It’s great," Nelson told Arsenal Digital. "I feel like this is something that we’ve been doing and want to be doing.

"We want to be winning games and training well and I think we’ve done that. I’m happy that I got my start, that we got the result and I scored as well.

"We decided to go with a high press and I think it worked. Laca got into them with the high press and we got a goal from it, so it’s something we prepared for and we got the result we wanted."

The result was perfect preparation for Saturday's Emirates FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City - and Nelson says he cannot wait for it.

"I think the feelings are going to be high," he said. "It’s something we want to do, to win the FA Cup, we’ve done it a lot of times over the years, so it’s something that we’re going to do all guns blazing."
