Today we’re proud to share with you the men’s first-team squad photo taken at London Colney while respecting Covid-19 restrictions earlier this month.
The women’s first-team squad photo will take place after their upcoming international break.
It’s an iconic image that took great collaboration across the club in order to fulfil this Arsenal tradition of a squad photo, which has been a part of our history since 1888/89. It’s a reminder to us all that while we may be apart, we are always together.
We know that so many of our fans here in the UK and across the globe may be experiencing lockdowns or restrictions on spending time with those close to them. Our thoughts remain with our supporters who have been impacted by Covid-19, especially those who have lost loved ones.
It remains a challenging time for us all and we miss the presence of our supporters at Emirates Stadium, Meadow Park and when we travel to our away games. We go to Leeds on Sunday as the Premier League returns after the November international break. Although our fans will not be with us in the away end at Elland Road, we know you will be supporting us from your homes all around the world.
We continue to think of ways to bring our supporters closer to the club during these times. The introduction of our virtual Junior Gunner mascot, membership rewards via our partners and innovative content on our social media platforms help bring us closer. Many supporters will have also seen the launch of our groundbreaking fan loyalty scheme, My Arsenal Rewards, which will be available to all our UK members from next season.
Looking ahead to December, which for many is a time of celebration and giving, we will be sure to keep the club’s tradition of giving back and offering more support to those who are vulnerable. We will continue to respond to the needs of our community and work to provide free meals and essentials to those who need support during these times.
From a football perspective, we are all looking forward to a busy end to 2020, with the conclusion of the Europa League group stage, a Carabao Cup quarter-final, a comprehensive Premier League programme, and not forgetting the Emirates FA Cup third-round draw, which sets us on our path to defending the trophy we won at Wembley in August. Our Women’s team will also end the year building on the strong start to the WSL season with a full schedule of fixtures including Wednesday night's match against Tottenham Hotspur in the Continental Tyres League Cup.
Of course, this is all against the continuing backdrop of empty stadiums. Work continues behind the scenes at the club to prepare for the return of you, the fans – which cannot happen soon enough, but only when the regulations permit it.
Thanks for your continued support.
