Gabriel Martinelli was an unused substitute as Brazil saw their hopes of winning a sixth World Cup ended by Croatia at Education City Stadium on Friday.
Following a goalless 90 minutes, Neymar put Tite's side in front just before half-time in extra-time. But Croatia rallied and forced penalties when Bruno Petkovic levelled four minutes from time.
The quarter-final subsequently went to spot-kicks and, after Dominik Livakovic kept out Rodrygo's effort, Marquinhos hit the post as Croatia reached the semi-final stage for the second successive tournament.
Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus each made three appearances during the World Cup.
