Martinelli and Gabriel get Copa America call-ups

Gabriel playing for Brazil against Bolivia

Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes have been selected by Brazil for the upcoming Copa America this summer.

The duo will head to the USA in June for the 48th edition of the competition featuring nations from North and South America, as Brazil look to reclaim the trophy after losing to Argentina in the final back in 2021.

The nine-time winners have been drawn in a group alongside Colombia, Paraguay and Costa Rica, the latter being their first opponents on June 24. Meanwhile, they'll warm up for the tournament with friendlies against Mexico on June 8, and the USA four days later.

Martinelli has won nine caps for the Selecao since March 2022, which led to him being selected for the World Cup later that year, playing three times in Qatar.

Gabriel meanwhile has won six caps for his nation since debuting last September in a 5-1 win over Bolivia, meaning he is set to appear in his first major international tournament.

They are two of nine Premier League players included in manager Dorival Junior’s 23-man squad.
