Ainsley Maitland-Niles has joined West Bromwich Albion on loan for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.
The 23-year-old joined the Arsenal Academy aged six, where he progressed through every age group and has now made 121 appearances for our first team.
Technical director Edu said: “We wish Ainsley the best of luck for his time with West Bromwich Albion. He deserves the opportunity to play consistently, which is what he needs for his club and international career ambitions and we fully support him with that.”
Mikel Arteta said: “Ainsley is a very talented player and we are proud of his hard work and development with us. This decision to go on loan to West Bromwich Albion for the rest of this season is to support Ainsley and his growth further. He will be working at a very good club in the Premier League and we all wish him the best of luck during his time at the Hawthorns.”
Ainsley signed his first professional contract with us in October 2014. He made his professional debut at the age of just 17 years and 102 days in a Champions League victory against Galatasaray, becoming the second-youngest player to represent the club in the Champions League behind Jack Wilshere.
Following a loan spell at Ipswich Town in 2015, Ainsley returned to us and established himself within the first-team squad, signing a long-term contract in June 2018. Ainsley played an integral part in our Emirates FA Cup-winning campaign last season and was man of the match in the Community Shield victory over Liverpool.
Ainsley was called up to the England senior squad for the first time last September for the Nations League matches against Iceland and Denmark, making his debut against the Danes in Copenhagen.
The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
