We’re delighted to announce that Madison Earl has signed her first professional contract with us.
Maddy has spent the first half of this campaign with Bristol City on a dual-registration agreement, making five appearances for the Barclays Women’s Championship side. She has now returned to Arsenal to continue her development.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder and England youth international joined us at the age of eight in 2015 and has gone on to win several trophies with our youth teams. Most recently, in May 2024, Maddy helped our under-21s to win the prestigious Blue Stars/FIFA Youth Cup in Zurich, receiving the Adidas Golden Ball award recognising her as the tournament’s best player.
Having excelled at youth level, Maddy has also gained valuable first-team experience in the last year here at Arsenal. She was part of our squad for the post-season friendly against A League All Stars Women in Australia in May 2024, gaining minutes from the bench as we secured a 1-0 win at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium. Maddy also travelled to Washington D.C. in August 2024 for our pre-season tour, earning another substitute appearance in our 2-1 win over Washington Spirit on August 18.
“Signing my first professional contract with Arsenal, my childhood club, is such an honour and a privilege,” said Maddy. “Arsenal feels like home and to be able to continue my development here is incredible. Growing up in the academy, I had the opportunity to learn from some wonderful role models and get regular exposure to playing with first-team players. I’m so grateful for that journey and excited to continue working hard for the future.”
Head of Player Development James Honeyman added: “Maddy has been a key part of our academy set-up and we’re so proud of her journey and the steps she has taken to begin her transition to the senior environment. We’re all looking forward to supporting Maddy as she continues her development in the game.”
Director of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “We’re thrilled to see another young player progress through our academy to sign professional terms with us. Maddy has a great foundation to build on and through hard work and commitment, she can continue to grow and develop as a player as she embarks on her professional career.”
Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Maddy and we all look forward to seeing her journey continue.
