Maanum reflects on our opening game in the WSL

After a few twists and turns, our Women's Super League opener ended in a stalemate with Manchester City.

Frida Maanum gave us the perfect start in the opening ten minutes, hitting a decisive strike into the back of the net, and our Norwegian caught up after the final whistle to share her reflections on the 2-2 draw.

Here is everything she had to say:

On the game itself...

It’s a tough game, it’s always tough games against [Manchester] City. We had periods of time in the game where we dominated, and they had times in the game when they created a lot of chances. We're happy with a draw.

On scoring our first goal of the 24/25 season...

I think there are a lot of emotions in those kind of moments, you can tell how much it means for the fans as well and to celebrate together with them at the Emirates is an amazing feeling.

On turning our chances into goals...

I think we created a lot of chances in the game and I think for us it’s just to get the ball in the net and get those goals we need to win these kind of games and I think it’s a positive that we created a lot of chances, we get two goals today but then with the amount of chances, we need more goals.

On going again on Thursday in the Champions League...

I think we had a lot of opportunities and chances going into that game and we’re going to take it with both hands.

On over 40,000 fans at the Emirates...

It’s fantastic, it’s amazing to see the fans out there. It means everything for us as a team, as a group and to be able to celebrate those goals together with the fans is just an absolutely amazing feeling.
