Loan watch: Tavares scores again

Auston Trusty and Brooke Norton Cuffy

For the second time already this season, two of our loanees in Ligue 1 faced off against each other last weekend as Marseille took on Nice.

Nuno Tavares proved to be in unstoppable form once again, bagging another goal for Marseille in their 3-1 win to take his tally up to three already this campaign. The game, which featured Nicolas Pepe's debut for Nice, also starred another familiar face for our supporters as Alexis Sanchez scored a brace for Marseille. In other Ligue 1 news, Reims' match against Lyon ended in a 1-1 draw, with Folarin Balogun starting for the fourth consecutive match.

Over in Spain, Marcelo Flores made his first start for Real Oviedo in their 1-0 win over CD Leganes in La Liga 2. Nikolaj Moller returned from injury as a substitute for Eerste Divisie's Den Bosch in their loss to Almere City. The injury, which halted his great pre-season form, kept the 20-year-old out of action for a month.

Back in England, Brooke Norton-Cuffy made his Championship debut for Rotherham United against Auston Trusty's Birmingham City. Both of our loanees played the whole match as the Millers cruised to a 2-0 win.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Harry Clarke and Charlie Patino were both out of action due to injury, while Hull City's Salah-Eddine Oulad M'Hand has yet to appear for the Tigers.

Tyreece John-Jules played 67 minutes for League One side Ipswich Town, as they were held to a 2-2 draw against Barnsley. A division below, Crewe Alexandra drew 0-0 with Bradford City, as young goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo kept his third clean sheet.

Mazeed Ogungbo played the full 90 in Crawley Town’s surprise defeat of Fulham in the Carabao Cup last week, but sat out their 1-1 draw at Rochdale on Saturday.

North of the border, Ryan Alebiosu played the full game for Kilmarnock in their 2-1 win over Motherwell. Alex Kirk also played 90 minutes for Scottish Championship leaders Ayr United as they defeated Dundee 3-1 at home.
