Two of our loanees faced off against each other in the Europa League last week as Fabio Vieira's Porto took on Nuno Tavares' Lazio in the Europa League.
Nuno played 89 minutes, with Fabio playing 84 minutes, in the European match-up, but it was Lazio who clinched a 2-1 victory courtesy of a 92nd-minute winner from Pedro to reach the top of the table, the only side with a maximum points haul after four matches. Porto meanwhile are 22nd with just one win in that time.
Domestically, there was further success for Tavares on Sunday as he returned from his one-match suspension to help the Rome side defeat Monza 1-0. Nuno played 75 minutes as captain Mattia Zaccagni scored the game's only goal, pushing them up to fifth in the Serie A table.
Over in Portugal, Vieira suffered a second defeat in four days, losing 4-1 against rivals Benfica in O Classico. The midfielder played 86 minutes before making way for Goncalo Borges. Fabio has featured in nine matches during his loan spell in Portugal, providing one assist, but his team now trail Sporting Lisbon by six points.
Reiss Nelson started his second match in a row for Fulham as the Cottagers ran out 2-0 winners against Crystal Palace. The winger was a constant threat at Selhurst Park as former Gunner Emile Smith Rowe opened the scoring in the first half.
Reiss was subbed off for Harry Wilson in the 82nd minute, with his replacement firing home Fulham's second just a minute after coming on.
In Spain, Sambi Lokonga played the full 90 minutes for Sevilla but couldn't prevent Los Hispalenses from losing 1-0 to Leganes. It was Sambi's third start in a row for the La Liga side with the defeat leaving Sevilla 15th in the table going into the international break.
Elsewhere in Spain, Karl Hein came within seconds of a priceless clean sheet but could not stop Athletic Bilbao from netting a late equaliser against Real Valladolid. Raul Moro looked like he was going to give Valladolid a third win of the season when he found the net in the 79th minute, but Gorka Guruzeta's 94th-minute goal means the game finished 1-1.
Over in Brazil, Marquinhos was a second-half substitute in Fluminense's 2-0 loss at Internacional.
Coming on for Guga at half-time, Marquinhos played the full second half as goals from Rafael Borre and Bruno Henrique gave The Reds all three points. The result leaves Marquinhos' team just one point clear of the relegation zone.
In the Women's Championship, there was a top-of-the-table clash as Teyah Goldie's London City Lionesses hosted Birmingham City. Despite playing the full 90 minutes, Goldie's Lionesses lost 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Gemma Lawley and Neve Herron.
