The result means Coventry sit 17th in the table after 26 games.
Harry Clarke played the full match as Oldham beat Salford 2-1 at Boundary Park in League Two. Mark McGuinness completed 90 minutes for the ninth game in a row as Ipswich drew 1-1 with Crewe at the Alexandra Stadium. Diego Simeone’s side were in imperious form as goals from Saul, Koke and a brace from Luis Suarez capped off a fine away performance and secured all three points for the league leaders.
