For the first time since March we’re back with another loan watch, following the return of German football behind closed doors.
Scroll down to find out how two of our players fared for their loan clubs over the weekend:
Jordi Osei-Tutu scored and played 80 minutes on Saturday as VFL Bochum secured a comfortable 3-0 home victory over Heidenheim.
It took the hosts just 11 minutes to open the scoring when Anthony Losilla latched on to a dangerous delivery to head home inside the area, before Osei-Tutu doubled their advantage shortly after and became the first English player to score post-lockdown.
Despite starting on the right wing, the 21-year-old regained possession in the middle of the area, shifted the ball out from under his feet and showed great composure to fizz a low effort into the bottom corner. Silvere M’boussy then went on to make it three with a cool finish in the second half.
Osei-tutu finished the game having made one key pass and three interceptions, in addition to winning five duels and completing two take-ons. The win moved Bochum up to 12th in the 2. Bundesliga, just three points off the relegation play-off spot.
Dinos Mavropanos started for Nuremberg on Sunday as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat against St. Pauli.
Following a straight red card for Christian Mathenia in the 55th minute, the visitors dug deep and looked set for a share of the spoils, but it wasn’t to be as Viktor Gyokeres struck late on to secure all three points for the hosts.
Mavropanos finished the game having won five aerial duels, and made four interceptions and three clearances. Nuremburg are now just one point clear of the relegation play-off spot in the 2. Bundesliga.
