Loan Watch: Nketiah and Mkhitaryan score

Eddie Nketiah

Five of our players were in action for their loan clubs over the weekend.

Scroll down to find out how they got on:

Eddie Nketiah stepped off the bench to claim a goal and an assist to help Leeds United beat Barnsley 2-0. Our youngster replaced Patrick Bamford with 20 minutes to go and the score locked at 0-0, and wasted no time in making an impact.

Shortly after volleying home Kalvin Phillips' free-kick at the far post, Nketiah was brought down by Aapo Halme in the box, allowing Mateusz Klich to seal all three points from the spot.

The win lifts Leeds United back to the top of the Championship after seven games, having only dropped points to Nottingham Forest and second-placed Swansea City. Nketiah could be back in action on Saturday, when Leeds face Derby County in a repeat of last season's play-off semi-final.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored on his Roma debut as the Italian side beat Sassuolo 4-2. The Armenia playmaker added the hosts' third goal after Bryan Cristante and Edin Dzeko had opened the scoring. Justin Kluivert also scored for Roma, before Domenico Berardi struck twice for Sassuolo.

Mkhitaryan will be hoping he's done enough to start again on Thursday, when Roma kick-off their Europa League journey at home to Istanbul Basaksehir.

Mohamed Elneny was sent off on his debut, as Besiktas lost 3-2 away to Gazisehir Gaziantep. It was a nightmare start for the visitors, who fell behind to Patrick Twumasi's fifth-minute penalty after Domagoj Vida had seen red.

Guray Vural then doubled the hosts' advantage before Elneny was caught by Olarenwaju Kayode's elbow and lashed out in retaliation. Besiktas rallied and struck twice in the last 10 minutes through Umut Nayir and Atiba Hutchinson, but could not manage an equaliser.

The result means Besiktas have fallen to 14th in the Turkish Super Lig, with just four points from their opening four games. They begin their Europa League campaign on Thursday, away to Slovan Bratislava.

Ben Sheaf
completed the full 90 minutes in central midfield for Doncaster Rovers during their goalless draw at Ipswich Town. The 21-year-old could feature again on Tuesday, when Doncaster host Blackpool in League One.

Deyan Iliev played the full 90 minutes as SFK Sered were held to a 1-1 draw by Ruzomberok. Kristi Qose put the hosts ahead after half an hour but Adam Morong struck with 15 minutes to go to salvage a late point for Iliev's side.

After eight games, Sered are seventh out of 12 sides in the Slovak Super Liga. They are next in action against Zlate Moravce on Saturday.

Jordi Osei-Tutu was an unused substitute in Bochum's 2-2 draw with Dynamo Dresden. Bochum are struggling in the 2. Bundesliga after six games, sitting 17th out of 18 sides with just three points. Osei-Tutu could be in action again on Saturday, when Bochum travel to Sandhausen.
