Loan Watch: Nelson scores for Hoffenheim

Reiss Nelson for Hoffenheim

Four of our players were in action for their loan clubs over the weekend. Read on to find out who was involved and how they fared.

Reiss Nelson scored his second Bundesliga goal of the season on Sunday as Hoffenheim slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Eintracht.

Ante Rebic and Luka Jovic scored either side of half-time for the visitors, before Nelson offered Hoffenheim a fighting chance in the 82nd minute.

The 18-year-old played a one-two on the edge of the box with Joelinton, before firing a right-footed volley past Kevin Trapp and into the top right corner.

David Ospina

David Ospina played the entirety of Napoli’s 2-0 win over Sassuolo on Sunday. Adam Ounas and Lorenzo Insigne were the names on the scoresheet, but Ospina made a number of stunning diving saves to preserve his clean sheet.

Matt Macey played 90 minutes of Plymouth Argyle’s 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on Saturday. Freddie Ladapo scored the game’s only goal in the 75th minute, helping the hosts to climb off the bottom of the League One table.

Takuma Asano played 14 minutes of Hannover 96’s 3-1 victory over VfB Stuttgart on Saturday. The Japanese international started the fixture, but went on to be replaced through injury.

Elsewhere, Krystian Bielik and Calum Chambers failed to feature for their loan sides. Bielik was an unused substitute in Charlton’s 2-1 loss to Coventry, while Chambers was ineligible for selection at Craven Cottage.
