Loan Watch: Nelson makes Fulham debut

Reiss Nelson made his debut for Fulham in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to West Ham United.

After Raul Jimenez broke the deadlock, assisted by former Gunner Emile Smith Rowe, Nelson replaced Sasa Lukic in the 66th minute.

He completed two attempted dribbles and completed eight passes out of 11, but the spoils were shared at Craven Cottage following Danny Inge’ 95th minute equaliser.

Fulham are 12th in the Premier League with five points from four games.

In women’s football, it was a positive weekend for Teyah Goldie, who played 87 minutes of London City Lionesses’ 2-1 win away to Blackburn Rovers.

The victory was richly deserved, perhaps more than the scoreline suggests, given London City’s dominance; they had 17 shots to Blackburn’s three.

Lucy Fitzgerald and Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah provided first half-goals for London City before Farah Crompton pulled one back for the hosts.

London City are fifth in the Barclays Women’s Championship with four points from two games.

Overseas, Karl Hein played 90 minutes of Real Valladolid’s 3-1 defeat away to Celta Vigo, falling to 17th in La Liga as a result with four points from five games.

It’s been a similarly frustrating start to the season for Shrewsbury Town, who are 23rd in League One with three points from six games after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic. Charles Sagoe Jr played 73 minutes though, making his full league debut for the club.

It was a weekend to forget for Jack Henry-Francis, who was sent off with two yellow cards in Sligo Rovers’ 4-0 loss away to Shamrock Rovers. The former are now fourth in the League of Ireland Premier Division.
