Mark McGuinness scored the winner as Ipswich beat Burton 1-0 at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday.

Our young defender rose highest to meet Alan Judge’s deflected cross and take all three points in League One. The result means Ipswich are now just one point off Charlton in the play-off places with two games in hand.

Harry Clarke started his eighth consecutive game as Oldham drew 1-1 with Walsall in League Two. Zak Jules put this hosts in front on the stroke of half time before Davis Keillor-Dunn levelled the scores late on.

Daniel Ballard played the full game as Blackpool drew 1-1 with Hull in League One. Our 21-year-old defender held out for 51 minutes before Mallik Wilks broke the deadlock for The Tigers. Reece Burke then offered Blackpool a route back into the match. After bringing Ben Woodburn down when he was through on goal, Burke was shown a red card and four minutes later Ballard‘s side were level. Sloppy defending from a set piece allowed Jerry Yates to prod in from a yard out to ensure the points were shared.

Tyreece John-Jules started his third game in a row as Doncaster beat Swindon 2-1 in League One. Doncaster went two up in the first half after a brace from Fejiri Okenabirhie before Hallam Hope scored late for Swindon.

Matt Smith also played in the fixture, he was replaced in Swindon’s first change by Jonny Smith just before the hour mark.

James Olayinka played 33 minutes as Southend drew 0-0 with Grimsby at Blundell Park. Our on-loan midfielder hobbled off in the first half after a sustaining a knock to his ankle and was replaced by Alan McCormack.

William Saliba played the full match as Nice lost 3-0 to Bordeaux at home on Sunday. Ui-jo Hwang, Paul Baysse and Toma Basic all notched in the second half to leave Saliba’s new side 14th in Ligue 1 after 19 games.

Sead Kolasinac was involved in his first defeat with Schalke since completing his loan move to the Bundesliga,  as his club lost 3-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt at Bank Park. Schalke went in at the break on level terms after Matthew Hoppe cancelled out Andre Silva’s 28th-minute opener, but Luka Jovic struck twice in the second half to hand Frankfurt all three points.

Matteo Guendouzi played the full match as Hertha Berlin drew 0-0 with Cologne in the Bundesliga. The result sees Hertha drop to 13th in the table after 16 games.

Lucas Torreira played 10 minutes for Atletico Madrid as they beat Sevilla 2-0 in La Liga. Our Uruguay midfielder replaced Luis Suarez late on but is now without a league start since October. Goals from Angel Correa and Saul settled this one.
