Loan watch: Hein features against Real Madrid

Karl Hein makes a save against Real Madrid

Karl Hein made his second appearance for Real Valladolid in the Bernabeu of all places, but his side lost 3-0 to Real Madrid on Sunday.

Our Estonian shot-stopper had marked his debut with a clean sheet and a victory as his new team beat Espanyol 1-0, but a week later they had the daunting task of taking on the Champions League holders. Karl kept them at bay until the 50th minute when Federico Valverde opened the scoring, before late goals from Brahim Diaz and Endrick added gloss to the scoreline, however our shot-stopper impressed with some good saves, notably from Kylian Mbappe in both halves.

Charles Sagoe Jr made his third appearance for Shrewsbury Town, coming on in the 68th minute in a 1-0 loss to Huddersfield Town in League One. The young winger had started in midweek against Fulham U21 in the Football League Trophy, creating several promising moments in a narrow 2-1 defeat.

The Shrews remain bottom of the League One table having lost all three league matches so far.

Sambi Lokonga was an unused substitute for Sevilla as the Spanish side suffered their first defeat of the campaign at the hands of Villarreal at home. Arnaut Danjuma opened the scoring for the visitors before Dodi Lukebakio levelled for Sevilla. The match looked to be finishing in a draw before former Newcastle United and Leicester City man Ayoze Perez fired in a 95th-minute winner.

In Ireland, Jack Henry-Francis came on as a second-half substitute for Sligo Rovers in the 62nd minute against Drogheda. The midfielder's side went down 7-0 at United Park in what was the hosts' biggest-ever home victory. The result leaves Sligo in fourth spot, just outside the European places on goal difference.

Over in Brazil, our winger Marquinhos was left on the bench as his new side Fluminense defeated Atletico Mineiro 2-0 at the Mineirao. A sixth victory of the season helped Fluminense climb out of the relegation zone after 23 matches.

Elsewhere, Nuno Tavares was an unused substitute as Lazio fell to their first defeat of the season away to Udinese.

Players who were unused substitutes:

  • Marquinhos - Fluminense
  • Nuno Tavares - Laizo
  • Albert Sambi Lokonga - Sevilla
