Loan Watch: Balogun scores first Boro goal

Three of our players have been in action for their respective loan clubs.

Read on to find out how they performed:

Folarin Balogun scored his first goal for Middlesbrough, but couldn’t prevent them from falling to a heavy 4-1 defeat at Sheffield United. The Blades raced into a three-goal lead before the hour mark with Sander Berge, Billy Sharp and Jack Robinson before our on loan striker pulled one back. Balogun pounced on a Wes Foderingham slip and slotted home into an empty net for the first league goal of his senior career. But Boro weren’t able to mount an improbable comeback as Morgan Gibbs-White added a fourth for the hosts. The defeat leaves Balogun’s side eighth in the Championship, two points off the play-off spots.

Dan Ballard played 45 minutes of Millwall’s 0-0 draw on the road at Blackburn Rovers, which extended their unbeaten run to six Championship matches. Our centre back, in his third game back after injury, was taken off at half time after tweaking his groin. Millwall manager Gary Rowett believes it is “not too serious” for Ballard, as his side lie four points off the play-off places.

Brooke Norton-Cuffy played the entirety of Lincoln City’s 2-0 defeat to Ipswich in League One. The home side took the lead in the 22nd minute through Wes Burns, and then extended their advantage when Kayden Jackson fired home. The defeat leaves Lincoln 18th in League One, six points above the relegation zone.
