Our very own Laia Codina is a UEFA Nations League champion after Spain defeated France in the competition's final.
The 2023 Women's World Cup winners added another piece of silverware to their collection on Wednesday evening with the 2-0 win at the Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville.
Spanish playmaker and Ballon d'Or winner Aitana Bonmati opened the scoring in the first half, thumping the ball into the back of the net following Olga Carmona's swift cross. Mariona Caldentey made it two just after the break with a well-driven strike past former Gunner, Pauline Peyraud-Magnin.
Codina played the full match as part of a centre-back pairing with Barcelona's Irene Paredes.
Spain had already secured their place at this summer's Olympic Games in Paris by defeating the Netherlands in the semi-finals. Despite losing the Nations League final, France will still qualify as hosts.
