Internationals: Three Gunners on target

Kai Havertz in action for Germany

Kai Havertz continued his great form with a goal for Germany in their 2-1 win over Greece on Friday.

The Greeks would have the better first half, taking the lead in the 33rd minute through Olympiacos winger, Georgios Masouras. However, our number 29 found the all-important equaliser for Germany with a swift turn and well-taken finish in the 55th minute. Pascal Gross’s long-range volley completed the comeback for the Euro 2024 hosts late on.

Leandro Trossard was also on the scoresheet, as Belgium comfortably dispatched Luxembourg. A brace from Romelu Lukaku put the Belgians in the driver's seat before our winger's fine run and thumping finish secured the victory.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Martinelli was also on target for Brazil in their dramatic victory over Mexico.

Andreas Pereira gave Brazil the lead within the opening five minutes and Martinelli doubled their advantage in the second half with a smooth tap-in. Mexico staged a late comeback to make it 2-2 in stoppage time before 17-year-old Endrick popped up with a 96th-minute winner for the Selecao.

Jakub Kiwior played the full 90 minutes as Poland defeated Ukraine 3-1 on Friday. The game’s four goals all came before half-time with Sebastian Walukiewicz, Piotr Zieliński and Taras Romanchuk all on target for Poland.

Girona’s Artem Dovbyk bagged a consolation goal for Ukraine right before the half-time whistle and Alex Zinchenko was subbed on at the start of the second half.

Kieran Tierney was involved for Scotland as they drew 2-2 with Finland. It looked as though the Scots would be victorious at Hampden Park thanks to Lawrence Shankland’s header and an own goal from Arttu Hoskonen, but a late penalty from Oliver Antman tied the game.

England suffered a surprising defeat to Iceland at Wembley on Friday night with Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson’s 12th-minute strike the only difference between the two sides. Declan Rice and Aaron Ramsdale both featured for the full game and Bukayo Saka was a late substitute.

Norway were beaten 3-1 by Denmark on Saturday, through goals from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Jannik Vestergaard and Yussuf Poulsen. Martin Odegaard played the full 90 minutes and assisted Erling Haaland for Norway's only goal.

Karl Hein was between the posts for Estonia in their 4-1 win over the Faroe Islands in the Baltic Cup semi-final. They face Lithuania in the final on Tuesday, 11 June.
