Internationals: Nobbs and Mead beat Brazil

Jordan Nobbs

We had six Gunners in international action on Friday and Saturday.

Scroll down to find out how they fared for their countries:

Jordan Nobbs and Beth Mead both featured in England’s 1-0 friendly win over Brazil on Saturday. The matchup at Meadow Lane was the first ever between the two sides, with Fran Kirby’s early headed finish proving to be the difference.

Nobbs started and played 70 minutes, while Mead came off the bench and featured for the final half hour. Leah Williamson was an unused substitute.

Danielle van de Donk, Dominique Bloodworth and Vivianne Miedema helped the Netherlands to a 2-0 first-leg win in their FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying play-off against Denmark on Friday.

Lineth Beerensteyn opened the scoring in the 14th minute, before Shanice van de Sanden doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time.

Bloodworth and van de Donk played the entirety of the fixture, while Miedema came off the bench in the 71st minute and rattled the crossbar. Sari Van Veenendaal was an unused substitute.

Lia Walti played 90 minutes of Switzerland’s 2-2 draw with Belgium on Friday, as they continue their hunt for a place in the play-off final.

Janice Cayman opened the scoring for the hosts in the fifth minute, before Switzerland equalised in the second half through a fortunate Davina Philtjens own goal.

Laura De Neve went on to restore Belgium's lead on the hour mark, but with less than three minutes remaining of normal time, Switzerland equalised through Alisha Lehmann.

Elsewhere, Pauline Peyraud-Magnin was an unused substitute in France’s 2-0 win over Australia.
