Internationals: Nelson assists for England U-21s

Nelson

We had five Gunners in international action on Tuesday. Read on to find out how they fared.

Reiss Nelson provided an assist as England U-21s won 5-1 in a friendly against Denmark.

Leicester City’s Demarai Gray opened the scoring with a cool finish just after the half-hour mark, before Dominic Solanke doubled the advantage with a looping header.

Marcus Ingvartsen pulled one back for the hosts on the stroke of half-time, but less than two minutes after the break Solanke restored England’s two-goal with a stunning backheel effort.

Nelson then teed up Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a goal from a blistering counter-attack, before the latter scored his second of the evening from the spot.

Krystian Bielik scored in Poland U-21s' 3-1 win over Portugal.

The 20-year-old headed home after five minutes to give Poland the lead, before Dawid Kownacki and Sebastian Szymanski furthered their advantage before the break.

Jota pulled one back for the hosts in the second-half, but Poland held on to qualify for the U-21 Euros.

Lucas Torreira played 74 minutes as Uruguay lost 1-0 to France in a friendly.

The two sides were level at the break, but just seven minutes into the second half France took the lead. Martin Caceres handled the ball inside the box and former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud made no mistake in finding the bottom-left corner.

Aaron Ramsey played 38 minutes as Ryan Giggs’ Wales slipped to a 1-0 friendly loss against Albania.

The youthful Wales side had the greater share of possession and created a number of opportunities, but Albania broke the deadlock in the second half with their first shot on target.

Harry Wilson brought down Taulant Xhaka - brother of Granit - inside the box and Bekim Kalaj fired home from 12 yards.

Alex Iwobi played 75 minutes of Nigeria’s goalless draw in a friendly with with Uganda.

Our 22-year-old winger was lively throughout, but he couldn’t stop the Super Eagles from firing a blank for the first time in six outings.

Bukayo Saka was a second-half substitute in England U-19s’ 1-0 loss to Turkey.

Saka replaced Nya Kirby in the 63rd minute and made a number of dangerous runs in behind, but the hosts eventually took the lead in the 72nd minute through Onur Taha Takir. Emile Smith Rowe was an unused substitute.
