Internationals: Jorginho features in Turkey draw

Jorginho captain

Jorginho played 62 minutes as Italy drew 0-0 at home to Turkey on Tuesday night.

The deadlock couldn’t be broken in an equal international friendly contest at Renato Dall’Ara.

Wearing the captain’s armband for the second time in his international career, Jorginho has now made 53 appearances for Italy and ended the game with a passing accuracy of 95 percent.

“It was not easy against a well-organised side, but it was a good training session,” he said after the game. “There are still things to be improved, it is not simple, but we can do it because we’re all eager to play the way the coach asks.

“We are still Italy, there is always going to be respect and it will not be easy for anyone to play against us.”

Italy have one more friendly game to play against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday before facing Albania, Spain and Croatia in the group stage of UEFA Euro 2024.

Estonia were also in action on Tuesday night, but Karl Hein was an unused substitute for their 4-0 friendly defeat away to Switzerland.
