Internationals: Bellerin makes Spain return

We had three players in international friendly action on Wednesday night.

Hector Bellerin made his first appearance for Spain since 2016, playing the full 90 minutes as they drew 1-1 against the Netherlands in Amsterdam.

Sergio Canales broke the deadlock after 18 minutes, finishing after being teed up by Alvaro Morata. The visitors led at the break but were immediately pegged back after the restart, with Donny van de Beek finding the net.

Granit Xhaka played the first half of Switzerland’s 2-1 defeat to Belgium in Heverlee. Admir Mehmedi fired the Swiss in front, before a second-half brace from Michy Batshuayi won the game for the hosts.

Bernd Leno was an unused substitute for Germany as they won 1-0 at home to the Czech Republic. Luca Waldschmidt scored the only goal of the game in Leipzig.
