‘I hadn’t scored too many… I needed a kickstart’

John-Jules

Tyreece John-Jules was delighted after scoring twice as our under-23s came from a goal down to beat Leicester 2-1 on Saturday.

Afterwards we spoke to the teenage forward about the game, his performance and his versatility. This is what he said:

on the team’s performance…

We started off slow in the first half and we knew in the second half that we had to play much better and we came out fast [in the second half] and we got our goals and I think we deserved the win in the end.

on the belief scoring brings…

It boosts my confidence and I haven’t scored too many so far this season and I needed a kickstart and hopefully I can keep scoring as we go into the season.

on playing at Emirates Stadium…

I was thinking that today, I always score at the Emirates and I love playing here - it’s a beautiful stadium so hopefully I can carry on.

on playing in different positions…

It’s good for my development, it’s always good to play in different positions, whether that’s as a 10 or wide or at No 9, it’s good and I’ll carry on doing it for the team.

on the squad’s emotions…

We’re really positive and we’re trying to keep up the good work and see if we can carry on playing the way we are for the remainder of the season.
