Home is where the heart is for goal-hungry Havertz

With goals in his last six appearances at Emirates Stadium, Kai Havertz admits he feels so comfortable showcasing his talents in our corner of north London, where he is adored by the Arsenal faithful.

The German got us off the mark in our 2-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain as we clinched our first victory in the new league phase of the competition, and continued his scoring streak after netting against Everton, Wolves, Brighton, Bolton, Leicester and now the Parisians.

And excitingly for all those Gooners celebrating in the stands every time he hits the back of the net, Kai feels the best is yet to come as he eyes a chance to take his game to the next level.

When asked about his fondness for Emirates Stadium, he said: “It just feels like home to me. It feels nice to play here, the atmosphere is great, the support is great. Sometimes when the game goes against you, all the supporters are important to us. We feel that a lot on the pitch, it helps me a lot and gives me a lot of confidence.

“I can still improve. Every game, I get two or three good chances, and I want to get better and score more goals. It’s a good start to the season and I can improve in a lot of aspects.”

Kai netted his fifth goal in eight games this term already with a brilliantly-timed run to latch onto an even better pass by Leandro Trossard that was inch-perfect, allowing his teammate to beat Gianluigi Donnarumma to the ball and head home.

It was the move of the match, and Kai feels that with all the talent around supplying the firepower, it’s no wonder we’re clicking so early in this campaign.

“When you see the players we have on the ball, when they’re outside, I’m tall, I like to take the space and help the team with those runs. Today it worked quite well, we train a lot on it.

“When you have players around you like these, it’s just a joy to play football. It’s the start of the season, and we can still be better. I think we’re all looking forward to the next few weeks.

“I think we all enjoyed it today, especially in the first half. I think we were the better team, showed what we are capable of, and it was great to be out there. The atmosphere was nice and it was just a nice game to play in.”
