Interview

‘His batteries were recharged… he was fantastic’

Mesut Ozil continued his stunning form with two assists and a goal in the space of four minutes against Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night.

Aaron Ramsey was asked about the Germany playmaker’s performance, Huddersfield’s first-half resilience and Saturday’s big game against Manchester United after the match.

Read what he said below:

on Mesut Ozil’s performance…

He was out of the Burnley game, so his batteries were recharged. He put in a fantastic performance tonight.

on winning 5-0…

Full credit to Huddersfield because they made it difficult for us to break them down, but it was nice to go into half-time with the 1-0 lead. We upped the tempo in the second half, created many opportunities and we were clinical.

on whether they got sloppy in the first half…

It’s always difficult. We came away from a very tough game against Burnley on Sunday, so I think that may have played a part in us being a bit sloppy in the first half but we overcome it. We got in at half-time with the lead and we took full advantage of that.

on whether the second goal broke Huddersfield…

I think so. They also had a tough game against Manchester City and made a couple of changes. They’re a quality team and they proved that tonight.

on gathering momentum before Manchester United…

We wanted to take advantage of being at home and we did that again. It was another three points and hopefully we can go into the game at the weekend full of confidence, and hopefully it will be a very good week for us.
