Jurrien Timber and Kai Havertz went head-to-head in the UEFA Nations League as Netherlands drew 2-2 at home to Germany on Tuesday night.
Timber was introduced just before half-time to replace Nathan Ake after Netherlands had taken an early lead through Tijjani Reijnders before Deniz Undav’s equaliser.
Joshua Kimmich gave Germany the lead in the third minute of added time at the end of the first half, but Denzel Dumfries pulled one back five minutes into the second 45 for 2-2.
Havertz played the full 90 minutes in a number ten role as the two nations remained level on points at the top of League A Group 3 with four points from two games.
Meanwhile, at Wembley Stadium, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka got 90 and 86 minutes respectively as England beat Finland 2-0 courtesy of two goals from Harry Kane on his 100th appearance for the Three Lions.
It was a particularly productive first half for Bukayo, who won three duels out of three, completed two take-ons out of two, delivered six crosses and had four shots.
Lee Carsley’s team are now second in League B Group 2 of the Nations League with two wins from two games, only trailing Greece on goal difference.
Elsewhere, Oleksandr Zinchenko played 85 minutes as Ukraine were beaten 3-2 away to Czechia.
Pavel Sulc put the home side ahead and then made it 2-1 either side of an equaliser from Vladyslav Vanat.
A penalty was awarded to Czechia in the 78th minute and Tomas Soucek duly converted from the spot, before Heorhiy Sudakov hinted at a late comeback with Ukraine’s second in the 84th minute.
Despite their dominance in possession and shots, Ukraine were unable to salvage a point, leaving them bottom of League B Group 1 in the Nations League with two defeats from two games.
Finally, Gabriel Magalhaes was in World Cup qualifying action with Brazil, playing 90 minutes of a 1-0 defeat away to Paraguay.
Diego Gomez scored the only goal of the game to make it just one win in the last four games in all competitions for Brazil, who are fifth in World Cup qualifying with ten points from eight games.
