Giroud on reaching 100 goals

Olivier Giroud became only the 19th player to reach 100 goals for us when he coolly converted a 49th-minute penalty in Thursday's 4-2 win at BATE Borisov.

The France striker actually scored his first for us five years ago this week - and he was understandably delighted after reaching the milestone.

History: Olivier Giroud joins some illustrious company

"Yes, I’m very proud of that," Giroud said. "It’s been a few weeks.

"To be honest with you I was expecting this goal, but sometimes you shoot without looking at the goal and it goes in, while sometimes you are struggling a little more with bad luck or misfortune.

"I’m glad and I’m happy for myself and hopefully more will come."
