Four members of our men’s first team were named on the Ballon d’Or shortlist on Monday night.
They were Martin Odegaard (19th), Bukayo Saka (21st), William Saliba (24th) and Declan Rice (26th).
Manchester City’s Rodri claimed the top prize at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
Voting was carried out by 100 journalists, who were tasked with picking their top 10 players from the 30-man shortlist.
The judges were asked to consider three areas: Individual performance, decisiveness and impressiveness, their collective performance and track record as well as fair play.
In the women’s award, our midfielder Mariona Caldentey ranked eighth.
