Four Gunners through to Olympics quarter-finals

Four of our players have reached the quarter-finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics, while three have been knocked out.

Gunners went head-to-head on Wednesday night when USA came up against Australia. Emily Fox played 65 minutes for Emma Hayes’ side, who won 2-1 to eliminate Australia from the competition.

Steph Catley and Caitlin Foord both played 90 minutes, while Kyra Cooney-Cross was replaced at half-time.

USA will play Japan in the quarter-finals at 2pm BST on Saturday, August 3.

Elsewhere, Laia Codina played 90 minutes as Spain won 2-0 against Brazil, with Mariona Caldentey coming on at half-time and getting the assist for Spain’s second goal, scored by Alexia Putellas.

Spain meet Colombia in the quarter-finals at 4pm BST on Saturday, August 3.

Last but not least Cloe Lacasse played the first half of Canada’s 1-0 win against Colombia.

Vanessa Gilles’ second-half strike ensured that Canada reached the quarter-finals despite suffering a six-point deduction for spying.

Canada face Germany in the quarter-finals at 6pm BST on Saturday, August 3.
