Euro 2020: Saka's England beat Croatia in opener

Bukayo Saka was on the bench for England's Euro 2020 opener against Croatia in Group B.

Our Hale End graduate was named as one of 12 substitutes for the Three Lions' heated clash at Wembley on Sunday, and watched on as Gareth Southgate's side got off to a perfect start in the tournament.

After a goalless first half in the capital, England made the breakthrough on the hour mark when Kalvin Phillips broke through to find Raheem Sterling, who beat Dominik Livakovic to net his 13th goal in his last 17 England games.

The win sees the Three Lions take top spot, ahead of Monday's other Group D game between Scotland and Czech Republic.

Saka's next chance to play comes on Friday, when England welcome Scotland to Wembley. The next Gunner to feature in the tournament could be Kieran Tierney, who is expected to start against Czech Republic.
