Granit Xhaka claimed his 11th Arsenal goal in our win over United, and his seventh scored from outside the area.
The ‘Xhaka Boom’ has become something of a trademark since he joined the club in 2016, and Unai Emery believes that there is even more to come from the midfielder when it comes to goalscoring.
“I think each player has their qualities, and Xhaka is a specialist with shooting,” he said. “He can shoot from different positions on the pitch and his shooting is very dangerous usually. Today he tried to shoot and he scored, but I think he can do more and can try like he did today in each match.”
The goal got Arsenal going in what was a huge encounter in the race for the top four, and Emery wants to keep the momentum going, even if we now don't have another league fixture for three weeks.
“We need to continue and it will be difficult,” our head coach said. “We are going to play the next match here against Newcastle in three weeks and that’s a lot. Our focus now is Thursday.
“We are happy today, we are going to analyse the match and also in the table we are in a better position, but Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are with us.
We are going to play some difficult matches and being consistent is very important. We need to keep this consistency in our mind.”
