Interview

'Eddie's tackle looked totally accidental'

Kieran Tierney put in another impressive display as we were pegged back by Leicester on Tuesday.

Our Scotland international was influential from his advanced left wing back position and delivered a team-high six crosses from open play.

Kieran spoke shortly after the game. Here's a transcript from his interview:

on the result...

I thought we did well, we dug in deep. Obviously, we conceded the goal... it's unfortunate, but I thought we showed good fight as well.

on what gets you though periods playing with 10 men...

Fitness, focus, determination and we're just hungry for the team to do well. We've had a few good games, we're on a good run and we're hungry to keep that going for as long as possible.

on how he's settled since the injury...

Yeah, I feel since the break we had that I've come back a lot better and more settled. Even in London itself I feel a bit more settled and I think the break has done me wonders and I've come back... I feel more part of the team, the boss has been great with me and I'm grateful for every single opportunity that I get.

on the sending off...

I had a view [of the tackle], to me it looked totally accidental. Obviously I've not seen it in slow motion like the referee, I didn't get a chance but for me it's accidental and Eddie is not the kind of player who would do anything like that. I've not seen it back but for me it looked accidental.

on what the result does for our Champions League aspirations...

I think it gives us confidence, the run we've been on... We want to keep the unbeaten run going, that was the main thing with 10 men after conceding the goal. They're going to have all the ball and put the pressure on us and we coped well again. Eight minutes added on is more pressure as well but I think we've done well. Obviously, we wanted to win but I'm glad we didn't get beaten.
