Champions League group stage confirmed

AWFC group stage

We have been drawn against Olympique Lyonnais, Juventus and FC Zurich in the group stage of this season's UEFA Women's Champions League.

Seeded into Pot 2 prior to the draw, we were the second team placed into Group C after Lyon, before Juventus and FC Zurich followed.

There will be six matchdays in total with all of our home fixtures being played at Emirates Stadium. Dates for these games will be confirmed by Monday evening at the latest.

As reigning champions of the competition, Lyon look set to provide us our toughest test of the group stage. They defeated Barcelona 3-1 in the final last season, but our last meeting with the seven-time winners took place in 2011 as we were beaten in the semi-finals. We will be met by a familiar face in Danielle van de Donk too, who joined Lyon last summer after making 142 appearances and scoring 45 goals for the club.

Next up we have Juventus, which will see us face our former head coach Joe Montemurro for the first time since leaving for Turin. Montemurro guided us to the WSL title back in 2018/19 and enjoyed a remarkable season with Juventus in 2021/22, winning the Serie A, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana. Our summer signing Lina Hurtig played a key role in each of those titles.

Finally, we have FC Zurich, who we haven't faced in this competition since October 2008. We won the game 7-2 with our now club captain Kim Little scoring a hat-trick.

Ticketing details will be available soon, so make sure you stay close to Arsenal.com and our Twitter page @ArsenalWFC.
