Campbell scores in Betis defeat

We had four players in action for their loan clubs over the weekend.

Joel Campbell netted for Real Betis, while Kelechi Nwakali, Marc Bola and Lucas all made appearances. Emiliano Martinez, Stephy Mavididi and Takuma Asano were all unused substitutes for their respective sides.

Joel Campbell scored in Real Betis’ 6-3 loss at home to Valencia. The visitors opened the scoring shortly after the half-hour mark through Geoffrey Kondogbia, while Ganchinho Guedes doubled their lead moments before the interval. Rodrigo and Mina Lorenzo stretched their lead to 4-0, but a goal from Campbell 10 minutes from full-time sparked a Betis comeback as they scored twice more through Antonio Sanabria and Cristian Tello in quick succession, before Simone Zaza and Andreas Pereira seal the win for the visitors.

Lucas came on for the final three minutes of Deportivo La Coruna’s 0-0 draw at SD Eibar.

Marc Bola played the full 90 minutes for Bristol Rovers in their 1-0 loss at home to Oxford United, who snatched victory late on through a goal from Alex Mowatt.

Kelechi Nwakali featured in the final 16 minutes of VVV-Venlo’s 5-2 loss at home to Eredivisie league leaders PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch champions opened the scoring through Jurgen Locadia, before Clint Leemans drew the hosts level. Shortly after the break Torino Hunt put VVV-Venlo into the lead, only for a brace from from Gaston Pereiro, and goals from Daniel Schwaab and Mauro Junior, to blow them away.

Stephy Mavididi was an unused substitute for Preston North End, in their 2-2 draw at Fulham.

Takuma Asano was an unused substitute for Stuttgart’s 2-1 home win against Cologne.

Emiliano Martinez was on the bench for Getafe in their 2-1 loss at home to Real Madrid.
