After a frustrating afternoon at Kingsmeadow, Jen Beattie still believes our squad can rally and achieve a strong end to the season.
Our Scottish centre-back reflected on the game's missed chances and applauded our incredible away support, which never wavered despite a tough result.
Here is everything she had to say:
on the performance against Chelsea...
It was just frustrating, I would say. We were nowhere near the level of performance that we know we've been managing to do these past few weeks and across the season, so it's a sore one. It gives us a bigger job to do next week but look, we know we're capable of it.
But the better team one - they completely outplayed us in the first half. The second half was much better performance-wise, but we need to focus on the basics as they weren't good enough.
whether we could have had better luck on a different day...
we had chances throughout the game. Stina had a brilliant chance in the first half and of course, there was Katie's pen but that's football. You've got to put away your chances to stay in the game and you know, we didn't manage to do that.
But we still had really good moments within the 90 minutes, so we need to take that into next week.
on the away support...
Amazing. Honestly, they've been incredible throughout, even singing behind this interview right now. They've been amazing all season no doubt about it.
They were, again, on our side for 90 minutes and it did feel like a home game and that's credit to the fans. They've sung this whole time - it's been amazing.
on her key role in the squad in the latter half of the season...
I've honestly loved it. Of course, I'll do whatever the squad needs and when I'm called upon, I'll do my absolute best. I understand my position in the team but I'll be honest, I've loved every minute of being back on the pitch.
It's been just a big confidence boost playing with the girls and they're a brilliant group to play with and I've loved every minute. Winning as well and playing at the Emirates has been incredible so we'll try and finish strong next week.
on finishing strongly against Villa next weekend...
It's been a very up-and-down season. To win a trophy was incredible. To have so many injuries was the exact opposite. But hopefully, we can finish strong next week.
And you know, it's nice to play at home on the last game of the season as well. We'll have our home crowd there and hopefully, it's a good occasion, we'll get three points and we'll get Champions League.
