Auba and David Luiz reflect on Burnley win

David Luiz during his Arsenal debut

Saturday’s win over Burnley was particularly special for David Luiz, with our summer signing making his debut for the club.

After the match, our new defender and matchwinner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang spoke to the game - and here’s what they said.

Auba on winning back-to-back games…
PEA: I think we started well today and it’s always good to start with two wins before we go to Liverpool. We feel confident and we feel good and that was important because we played at home, so we’re very happy today.

David Luiz on making his Arsenal debut…
DL:
It feels very good! I’m so happy to be here and to try to do my job and also to enjoy it with these kinds of quality players (Aubameyang). I think this team has a lot to do and can improve a lot and we can fight for all the competitions, so we’re going to work step by step, working hard. It’s a pleasure to be here because everybody is humble, everybody wants to learn and everybody wants to improve to help this club shine again.

David Luiz on passing the ball across the face of goal early in the game - and the fans instantly showing him support…
DL:
I think it’s great to feel this opportunity from everybody. I just try to do my best. Our style is to play football and also to understand the plan for the game, we changed a bit after because I think the game showed us to play in a different way. But when you have confidence and you’ve trained with the team you have to try to do the plan and play from the back. In the end I think we did very well.

Auba on whether we’re equipped to challenge at the top all season long…
PEA:
Yeah, of course. We feel stronger with players like David Luiz, Dani Ceballos and Pepe. They came here and now we feel stronger, so I feel like we can fight for the top four.
