Pre-Match Report

Arsenal v Rennes: The Brief

After the high of that win against Manchester United, we go back to work on Thursday as we seek to keep our Europa League campaign alive.

Much has been written about our performance in the first leg in Rennes, but in truth we were on top until Sokratis' sending off just before the interval.

From that point on, the game - rather than the tie - got away from us, but it means we have it all to do when the French side arrive in town for the reverse fixture.

But despite the stats telling us that only one side has progressed in the Europa League after losing a first leg 3-1, Unai Emery will be confident in what his side can produce on home soil.

The last time we lost at Emirates Stadium was back in December, and our record since then of eight successive victories shows the momentum we have built up in N5.

Throw in the fact that Alex Lacazette will now be available after his three-match ban was reduced upon appeal, and there is cause for optimism. We may have made life difficult for ourselves in France, but this tie is far from over.

Read on for our comprehensive preview, including Emery's thoughts on the game, the latest team news, stats, and analysis of the opposition.
