Arsenal stars surprise kids at London Colney

A group of local children enjoyed a surprise visit by Mohammed Elneny, Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock and Eddie Nketiah at our training ground this week.

The 33 kids, from across the borough, came to London Colney for a Soccer School event during half-term, involving a day of fun coaching with our Arsenal Gap Year coaches.

Since 2008, we have worked in partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council to deliver a range of sporting, educational and social inclusion activities for Hertsmere residents.

Throughout the school year, we deliver a weekly programme for primary schools, offering curriculum football coaching or our very own Arsenal Double Club programme, which combines 45 minutes of literacy with 45 minutes of football. Schools also benefit from girls-only coaching sessions after school.

In addition to the primary schools programme, we also provide weekly diversionary football activities to secondary level students at Falconer School and The Park Education Support Centre, with Sports Leaders programmes proving particularly impactful.

At the training ground, monthly events take place throughout the season, including Arsenal Soccer Schools, tournaments and disability events.

The borough is also home to the UK’s most successful women’s team. Arsenal Women provide coaches to schools to deliver the Premier League Women & Girls’ programme, as well as support and resources for schools to gain an insight into what life is like in a professional women’s football club with the aim of inspiring more girls to play football.

Through the partnership, more than three quarters of all primary schools in the borough have benefitted from one of Arsenal in the Community’s programmes, reaching over 6,500 children.
