Arsenal to provide treat for young care leavers

Arsenal festive

We will play host to 40 men, women and children who have left local authority care at a special event on Christmas Day.

The group has been identified by Go Forward Youth and Islington Borough Council to take part in the event where they will come together to play football and games before tucking into a Christmas meal cooked by Sara Danesin from Masterchef, who finished runner-up in 2011. They will also be able to watch films and hear a surprise message from Arsenal players.

A number of Arsenal volunteers will help run the day alongside Go Forward Youth and Arsenal in the Community’s Jack Ferguson said: “We are looking forward to making it  a special day for these young adults and their children who may otherwise have spent Christmas alone. It will be great fun for everyone.”

Kadeema Woodbyrne of Go Forward Youth said: “This is Go Forward Youth’s launch event. We are enormously grateful for the generosity of Arsenal Football club in hosting this event for Islington care leavers. Go Forward Youth provides vital services for care leavers including respite at time of crisis.”
