This International Women’s Day, we are choosing to challenge. A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change.
To mark International Women’s Day we have been celebrating women that have broken barriers and forged paths for others to follow. We also recognise that our women’s players are role models for a lot of people, and so we continue to champion them every day.
Our club partners Mastercard wanted to mark International Women’s Day, so we surprised some of our academy players with a video call and goodies from their idols Jordan Nobbs, Vivianne Miedema and Lisa Evans.
In partnership with Visit Rwanda, we produced a live skills session for fans to take part in, as well as a video highlighting the progress we have made in society so far, and what is still left to achieve.
As well as recognising International Women’s Day across our social media channels and with club partners, we have also been taking part in community events to inspire and support young women and girls locally in north London.
Lydia Williams recently joined a primary school group for an International Women’s Day Q&A, whilst Leah Williamson joined a Premier League Kicks Q&A with girls aged 11-16.
