Janni Arnth marked her Arsenal debut with a thumping header in a 4-2 win over West Ham United on Sunday.
The defender joined us from Linkopings FC in November - and she’s been asked to carry out a specific role by Joe Montemurro.
We spoke to the Denmark international after the final whistle and this is what she said:
on scoring on her debut…
It was a great feeling to score on my debut. It was nice to get into some good football and to play with my new teammates.
on how the side reacted to conceding…
We didn’t start that well, but then we started to control more moments in the game. Unfortunately they got their goal and one more later on, but we kept going and tried to get into our game. Our aim was to control the game on the ball and keep creating chances - and we did that!
on Montemurro’s half-time team talk…
He said that we didn’t do good enough with the goal we conceded, but then he said that we need to get into the game more and the goals will come.
on how she’s settled into the club…
I’ve settled in really well. I’ve enjoyed my first few weeks and I’m just slowly getting into everything now, especially on the pitch, and that’s the most important thing. I just look forward to working with the girls and contributing towards this journey.
on the role that Montemurro wants her to play…
He wants me to try to structure our play offensively and defensively, so I need to make a lot of small decisions in the game. I just need to read the game and manage the game the best I can.
