adidas Originals and Arsenal have launched a retro inspired originals collection.
The individual pieces have been re-imagined from the previous identity-defining partnership between the club and adidas, which produced one of the most iconic and recognisable shirts in world football.
Fans now have the chance to get their hands on one of the most iconic away shirts of all time – the ‘Bruised Banana’ from the 1991-93 seasons. Complete with original trefoil logo and Arsenal badge, the shirt features the famous V-neck design and short sleeves.
The range also includes the Arsenal trefoil crewneck sweatshirt that gives a nod to our iconic gear from the early 90s and two track tops inspired by the famous training wear donned by club legends David Rocastle, Ian Wright and Tony Adams.
The look can be finished off with the Arsenal trefoil tracksuit bottoms which feature the trefoil and classic Arsenal emblem on each leg.
Wright said: “It’s great to see adidas and Arsenal bringing back some of the iconic designs which were such a big part of my career. The fans loved that shirt and I’m sure it’s something they would have been hoping for once the partnership was announced. It made sense for the current away shirt to be inspired by the bruised banana jersey and likewise to bring back the original as a one off.”
The release of the collection is accompanied by a short film, which you can watch by pressing 'Play' above, which includes a mixture of legends from the early 90s and current first-team players from the men’s and women’s teams, showcasing all of the products from the range. The film also includes music from Camden artist Bakar with his single ‘Will you be my Yellow’.
The adidas Originals x Arsenal collection will be available from December 11 in Arsenal stores and online at Arsenal Direct.
