'He's been exceptional since we signed him'

Aaron Ramsdale kept his 14th clean sheet of the season on Sunday, and one particular eye-catching save in the first half from a Harvey Barnes header brought gasps from opposition boss Brendan Rodgers on the touchline.

Afterwards the Leicester manager said he believed Ramsdale to be the best English goalkeeper at the moment, and Mikel Arteta was also full of praise for our stopper in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday ahead of the Emirates clash with Liverpool.

"Well, first thanks to Brendan for thinking that way and I think Aaron has to take those words to give him confidence and support in what he’s doing," Arteta said. "I always said he’s been exceptional since the day we signed him, not only on the pitch, but what he transmitted, what he brought to the building, to the club, outside with his character and personality and that’s the kind of people that we want to bring to the club.

"You can see the understanding and the chemistry that he has with some of those (other English players in the squad).

"The fact that they knew each other for many years, that is always helpful and that speeds up the process of any adaptation when it’s always difficult at a new club."
